SEBRING — The Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, will hold its annual Friends of Scouting-Soaring Eagle Dinner on Thursday, March 30 at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 126 S. Pine St. in Sebring.

The reception begins at 6 p.m. This year’s dinner will honor Dr. William “Bill” Jernigan, 2017 “Distinguished Citizen” of the year, for his years of service to the community and youth. The award recognizes noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of citizens in Highlands County.

A display of Scouting memorabilia will be available to view prior to dinner, which will begin at 7 p.m.

The dinner is a fundraising opportunity to directly benefit the Boy Scout program in Highlands County. There is no cost for the dinner, but reservations are required and the council asks that attendees make a monetary donation to support the Scouting program. The event will be catered by The Palms of Sebring, and this year’s emcee will be Don Elwell.

For sponsorship opportunities or to RSVP for the dinner, contact Aaron Pickle at 863- 632-1934 or aaron.pickle@scouting.org
