ST. PETERSBURG (Tampa Bay Times) — A fight that started at a gas station Sunday afternoon ended with a shooting that hospitalized a man with possible life-threatening injuries, according to St. Petersburg police.

The accused shooter, whom police did not identify, got into an argument with a man on a bicycle at the Wawa at 2465 22nd Ave. N. The bicycle rider, whom police also did not identify, and the motorist then left the Wawa going in the same direction — eastbound on 22nd Avenue N.

While the driver was stopped a traffic light just west of Interstate 275, the man on the bicycle road up to him and started another fight, police said. The driver then pulled out a gun and shot the man.

Authorities rushed him to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with what police called “possible life-threatening wounds.” The shooter is cooperating with investigators.
