SEBRING — After authorities arrested a Sebring man on an outstanding warrant, he ended up facing other charges.
Chance Albert Paxson, 23, 203 Red Pine Drive, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and was charged with defrauding a financial institution, third-degree grand theft, seven counts of criminal use of personal identification, theft of a credit card and illegal use of a credit card.
The warrant affidavit on the latest charges doesn’t specify the earlier charges.
While at Paxon’s residence, authorities found a credit card in the name of a woman, the affidavit said.
The woman later told authorities that someone had opened up a credit card in her name and made multiple charges on it without her permission. Several of the charges were online purchases, the affidavit said.
The woman also said Paxson was her live-in boyfriend and she wanted to press charges against him, the report said.
Investigators had the girlfriend call Paxson and turn on the speaker, the affidavit said. They heard Paxson admit to opening up two credit cards in her name, authorities added.
