Sebring Gas Systems explains gas leak

Sebring Fireman Austin Maddox is conferring with Sebring Gas System's Cameron Menzie on the possible source of the butyl Mercaptan smell that is used to make natural gas stinky. The call happened on Saturday.

SEBRING — Over the weekend, approximately 16 calls were made to local fire departments or Sebring Gas Systems because people smelled the malodorous stench associated with natural gas.

Most of the calls were on Friday, including Highlands Regional Medical Center, and Saturday, which included businesses up and down U.S. 27 in Sebring. There was one call on Sunday from Sebring Regional Airport.
