LAKE PLACID — In an effort to provide competitive salaries and attract applicants with CDL licenses, the Town of Lake Placid agreed to an increase of $1 per hour for those who have or obtain a CDL license. Having a CDL license is essential to driving a garbage truck and other large vehicles.
The town has only three people with CDL licenses now in the Public Works department. That is too few to effectively run that department, according to Town Administrator Phil Williams. One of the three is being transferred to Utilities, leaving two employees with licenses available.
