Crystal Lake Club resident Karen Lambert Fields, at left, discusses plans for Sebring Parkway Phase III on Wednesday night with Highlands County Engineer Clinton Howerton Jr. The county has pledged to put a 6-foot-high chain link fence between the roadway's multi-use path and the community. It's a little late for Fields: Burglars took hers and a neighbors golf carts early Tuesday morning.

Survey stakes behind the home of Karen Lambert Fields of Crystal Lake Club mark the edge of the future Sebring Parkway Phase III right-of-way, and the chain link fence that will separate it from her home, on the other side of the hedge. Residents won a concession from the county to install a 6-foot-tall chain link fence at the boundary, and a promise to do a noise study on the road once it’s in use.

Sebring Parkway Phase III will pass right behind Crystal Lake Club, a manufactured home golf course community on the south shore of Lake Denton. Residents petitioned county commissioners and got a couple of concessions, including pledges to put a 6-foot-high chain link fence between the roadway's multi-use path and the development, as well as doing a noise study once the road is built.
