AVON PARK — Amid the shouts and musical performances, the important message to be “drug free” was reinforced and repeated often at the annual D.A.R.E. Day Celebration on Friday at the Alan Jay Wildstein Center for the Performing Arts.

Highlands County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ross Porter told the fifth-graders that as they move forward and make the right decisions they will serve as an example for those younger students right behind them who will go on to make the right decisions.
