LAKE PLACID — Randy Reinhardt will once again speak to the Town Council tonight; the meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the town hall. Reinhardt will address what he sees as a lack of progress to make town businesses more accessible to those with disabilities.
“It has been four months now and there has been nothing done,” Reinhardt said. “I took a close look at the people involved with the Chamber. There’s a reason I think nothing has been done; the leadership of the Chamber all have businesses that are violators. (Bill) Brantley is the president, I believe, and Brantley Properties, which is his business, has the worst entrance barriers of anyplace in downtown. It’s a three-foot barrier, has steps leading up with no ramp and no back entrance. The first vice president of the chamber is somebody named (Curtis) Slade. He has First Insurance of Lake Placid. It has an entrance threshold that you can’t get in. Lake and Land Realty is not accessible. Another director is (James) Fansler, the police chief. He is going on the chamber Facebook page and promoting businesses that are not accessible.”
