SEBRING — County commissioners hope to get through a meeting agenda today in time to attend a funeral service for Deputy Sheriff William J. Gentry Jr.
If they don’t finish the agenda by the time the funeral service starts at 11 a.m., they plan to adjourn in time to attend the ceremony then reconvene afterward, said Scott Dressel, public information officer for the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office. Dressel and other Sheriff’s Office officials have been coordinating memorial services for Gentry, who was shot May 6 during a routine call in Lake Placid and died May 7 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.
