Around our abode there’s no decking the halls whilst Christmas carols play on the hi-fi and the clink of glasses reverberate against a punchbowl. Nor are there oodles of hors d’oeuvres received from around the nation sliced, diced and delightfully displayed on china finery. That is all but a memory of my Christmas past. My current situation is more haphazard than festive.
Time would be issue number one in my décor drama. For years I struggled with creating some manner of holiday cheer around the home in what felt like the shortest block of time created. We would camp over Thanksgiving, returning home to chores, work and a full calendar of holiday activities. Desperately I’d try to schedule a night for tree trimming or baking, barely completing one before Christmas Eve arrived.
