Florida’s GOP leaders use the logic that Medicaid expansion provides benefits to poor folks who don’t work. They also link expansion to Obamacare, a program Republicans have spent years trying to blow up — so far with little success and no good replacement.
The subsidizing the poor argument is flawed. Studies, according to The Upshot, a feature in the New York Times, show a majority of expansion beneficiaries are working, in school or caring for a sick family member.
