FEBRUARY

HIGHLANDS COUNTY FAIR runs through Feb. 18. Admission is $8, and an arm band that allows unlimited amusement rides for one day costs $22. Today, any child in school who brings a can of food gets free admission. The fairgrounds are at 781 Magnolia Ave, Sebring. For more information log onto www.hcfair.net.

SEBRING ELKS DINNER The Sebring Elks Lodge will hold a Dinner/Dance on Friday, Feb. 17. Buffet Served 5-6 p.m. Cost is $12. Dance only $3 Music by Don and Allen 6:30-9:30 p.m.

ICE CREAM SUNDAE DANCE The Buttonwood Square Dance Club will hold an Ice Cream Sundae Dance on Friday, Feb. 17 in the Buttonwood Bay RV Resort Rec. Hall. The park is located on U.S. 27 south of Sebring. The dance will begin at 7 p.m. with Chuck Ryall cueing round dances. From 7:30-9:30 p.m. Nelson Wakeman will call square dances. SOCIAL CLUB BREAKFAST Sebring Mobile Estates will have its social club breakfast from 7-9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 4108 Kenilworth Blvd. Cost is $5 per person.

THE SUGARBEAR BAND, billed as central Florida’s premier ‘oldies’ dance band, will provide the music Saturday, Feb. 18 from 7-10 p.m. at the Buttonwood Bay recreation hall. Advance tickets are $7 and are available by phoning 863-259-8684. Soda and popcorn available.

AMVETS PASTA NIGHT The Sebring AmVets Post 21 Ladies Auxiliary Pasta Night will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Post. Menu includes baked macaroni and cheese, baked pasta with sauce and meat, garlic bread, tossed salad and dessert. Tickets are $6 and are available at the door.

SEBRING MASONS SERVE BBQ LUNCH Sebring Masons Lodge No 249 will serve an all-you-can-eat BBQ chicken lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, at the lodge on the corner of Home Ave. and Sebring Parkway. Meals are $10 each. The menu is chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad, dessert and beverage. Take out is available. The public is invited.

QUARTLERY MEMBERSHIP MEETING of the Placid Lakes Home and Property Owners Association will host its quarterly membership meeting Monday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Placid Lakes Town Hall at 2010 Placid Lakes Blvd. in Lake Placid. 10th ANNUAL ‘FUN SHOOT’ will be Saturday, Feb. 25, hosted by Lake Placid Christian School. The fundraiser will be staged at Square One Sporting Clay Club, seven miles west of U.S. 27 on S.R. 70. Prizes will be awarded to the top shooters. Lunch will feature prime rib, jumbo shrimp, swamp cabbage, strawberry shortcake and more. Drawings will be held for prizes and gifts, too.
