AVON PARK — The response to an incident involving a man with a gun at South Florida State College was what was needed, although the campus wasn’t locked down and notifications weren’t immediately made to students, officials with the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and South Florida State College said Wednesday.
“My comment would be giving the response from the Sheriff’s Office combined with SFSC staff we had a positive outcome to this incident,” Highlands County Sheriff Paul Blackman said. “The response from our deputy assigned to SFSC was outstanding. I am extremely proud of the citizen who called to report the incident.”
