Fire rips through LP triplex

A fire that started in the back of this triplex was hot enough tto tear through the common attic and out through the soffit from a Monday morning fire.

LAKE PLACID — A fire tore through a triplex at 403 Hillside Ave. around 3:20 a.m. Monday. The fire started in the back unit that is to the west of the residence, Highlands County Emergency Management Coordinator Brett Hogan said.

The resident of the front or southeast unit woke up in the wee hours of the morning to the heat and smoke from the neighboring unit.
