Mom’s legacy benefits library’s genealogy room

Sandra McClenithan donated her mother's book on her family's history to the genealogical room at the Lake Placdi Memorial Library. Jeanette Peeples was glad to receive the book on Wednesday morning.

LAKE PLACID — Sandra McClenithan donated a family history book to the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Highlands Genealogical Society at the Lake Placid Memorial Library on Wednesday morning.

“The Shaffer Family Tree and its Many Branches” was published and copyrighted by McClenithan’s mother, Betty Shaffer Messinger, who died Sept. 22. The genealogical book is also at the Library of Congress.
