AVON PARK — Heavy morning fog cleared to make way for the annual Hometown Basketball Tournament in the south side of Avon Park Saturday morning. The event was started years ago by Avon Park native and baseball icon Thomas “Flash” Gordon and continues with his son and present baseball star, Dee Gordon, now with the Seattle Mariners.

And though Dee has become the main attraction, he assures that he is not putting his stamp on the event.
