A flashing warning sign on Kenilworth Boulevard alerts drivers to slow down to 20 mph in the vicinity of Sebring High School. Despite the flashing sign and reminder of doubled fines, some drivers fail to obey the speed limit in school zones.


As this sign on Youth Care lane advises, speeding tickets issued in a school zone while the warning light is flashing are more costly.

LAKE PLACID — In the morning and afternoon rush to get where they are going some drivers don’t heed the flashing yellow light alerting them to the 20 mph speed limit in a school zone.

Some drivers will reduce their speed after they realize everyone else has slowed down. Others will let their speed creep up a bit over 20 mph limit.
