Glenn Wesley Bowen, age 73, passed away on Nov. 16, 2017. He was born June 27, 1944 in Leesburg, Florida to Grady Bowen and Elizabeth Green Osborne, and was raised by his mother and stepfather, John Osborne Jr. Glenn’s siblings include Jean Smart, Robert Bowen, Larry Bowen, Joe Bowen, Ray Osborne, Billy Osborne, David Osborne, and Randy Osborne; all raised in Fruitland Park, Florida. He graduated from Leesburg High School in 1963. Glenn served in the army from 1964-1966. Glenn began working for the railroad in 1966. He married Linda Diane Gray in 1970. Glenn was also county commissioner in 1974 and a volunteer firefighter of Lady Lake. In 1975, Glenn was transferred to Sebring, Florida as an Amtrak agent, moving his wife, Linda and their three sons, Keith, Robert Glenn, and John Charles (Charlie) to Sebring, Florida. Glenn worked at the Sebring train station until retirement in 2002. In 2004, Glenn moved to Ocklawaha, Florida to be closer to the Ocala National Forest; that is where his heart is. Glenn was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved spending time with his family and close friends. He was also a fisherman for fish and for the Lord. He was a respectful, kindhearted man who always went above and beyond for anyone. His most common saying was “Thank You Kindly” for he was a grateful man.
Glenn has seven grandchildren, Kayla, Kendell, Kylee, Connor, Haley, Wyatt, and Caleb.
Glenn will be joining his family members in heaven, including his son, Keith Wesley (passed Oct. 26, 1991), and brothers, Joe and David.
Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. Service will follow at 11 a.m. at Life Church Assembly of God, 4001 Picciola Road, Fruitland Park.
