Lorraine Lightsey Polk, age 75, of Bereah, Florida, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017. She was born Nov. 29, 1942 in Avon Park, Florida to Jack and Edith (Brewer) Lightsey. She worked as a secretary, was a member of the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church, and has been a lifelong resident of this area.
She is survived by her sons, Howard Polk of Avon Park, Bobby Polk (Linda) of Haines City, and Glenn Polk of Daytona Beach; daughter, Rebecca Polk Acosta (Chris) of Sebring; sisters, Jo Barnes of Bereah and Sandra Streule (Kevin) of Sebring; brothers, Clifford Lightsey (Delcie) of Frostproof and Roger Lightsey of Bereah; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. R.L. Polk.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church with the Revs. George Hall and Mike Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery in Bereah. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church Building Fund.
