Jack A. Brooks Sr., of Lake Placid, went to be with his Lord on Monday morning, Dec. 4, 2017. He was in the companionship of his loving family. Jack was born in Lake Placid on Dec. 28, 1930. He was the son of Thelma Holloway and John Brooks. Jack was a lifelong Lake Placid resident. Jack began his working career with Eastern Airlines as a sand blaster and then at the Standard Station in Lake Placid. He later went to work for Consolidated where he worked for 38 years, retiring as parts manager. He loved tinkering and woodworking as well as playing guitar. He especially loved the time spent with his grandchildren. Jack was a member of the Placid Temple Church of God.
Jack is survived by his children, Christine (David) Lightsey, Jack Jr. (Shirley), and Cynthia (William) Barfield; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2009.
Family will receive friends for a viewing from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at Placid Temple Church with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. Pastors Dennis West and Travis Matney will celebrate. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the loving devotion of Michael A.
