David J. Durrance, of Cottondale, Florida and Lake Placid, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 3, 2017. He was comforted by his loving family.
David was born Feb. 19, 1951, in Sebring. He was the son of Magdalene Simpson and Jesse Durrance. David has been a lifelong Lake Placid resident and had recently moved to Cottondale in 2014. David was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for over 20 years in correctional facilities with the State of Florida, which included Copeland Road Prison, Okeechobee, DeSoto, Hendry, and Avon Park, and he retired as a captain at the Moore Haven Correctional facility. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a Pentecostal in his faith.
David is survived by his daughters, Teresa Elliott (Patrick) and April Williams; brother, Wade (Marilyn); and his ex-wife, Louise Durrance. He leaves four grandchildren and was blessed with one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends for a viewing from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at the Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors. Funeral arrangements are under the loving devotion of Michael A.
