Sandra Christine Santini Smith
Sandra Christine Santini Smith was born Oct. 23, 1938 in Ft. Myers, Florida, to Joseph and Hazel Santini. She went home to be with our Lord on Feb. 10, 2018.
Her early years were spent in Key West where the family had relocated. The family also spent time living on Fort Jefferson where her father was the Park Ranger and they were home schooled by their mother.
After college in Virginia, Sandra returned to Key West where she met her spouse of 59 years, George Smith. They married in 1957 and set up housekeeping there in Key West. Eventually, moving northward to Hialeah, then Miramar, raising three children along the way.
Sandra had an active career as a school bus driver, a teacher at Immaculate Conception School in Hialeah and eventually retired from the Library system in Broward County.
After retirement and a move to Sebring, Florida, Sandra and George were actively involved with the Garden Club, The Co-Op, and the Democratic party. They made many new friends and had an active retirement.
In 2015 after health issues, they moved to West Palm Beach, Florida to be cared for by their children.
She leaves behind her beloved spouse, George; children, Georgeann (Robert) Jones, Kevin (Laura) Smith, Barbara (Bob) Cochrane and a sister, Martha Santini. Also surviving Sandra are grandchildren, Jennifer and Melissa Ely, Michael and Shane Smith, and Kellie (Robert) Glenn, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Hazel Santini and a brother Joseph Santini. Sandra will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Sebring at noon on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018.
