Mary Ruth Gebhart passed away peacefully on Feb. 16, 2018 at the Vitas Hospice in Sebring, Florida.
Mary Ruth was born on Feb. 22, 1920 and grew up in Wauchula, Florida. As Mary Ruth Sessions, she there met our father, Paul Creech. Together they raised four children, Paula, Ann, Mary Frances and John.
Following the death of Paul Creech, Mary Ruth married Paul Keith Gebhart, and his wonderful grown children, Laurel, Barbara and Melanie became a part of our family as well.
Mary Ruth was very active in the arts, her church, and many organizations in Lake Placid. She loved Lake Placid, and her passing will no doubt leave a void in the hearts of many.
Mary Ruth was preceded in death by Paul Creech, Paul Keith Gebhart, and two of her children, Paula and John.
Surviving Mary Ruth are her two daughters, Ann (Bill) Blakeman and Mary Frances Cannaday; grandchildren, Ernest Paul Templin (Angie), Lauren Ruth McHenry, Robert Cannaday, Eileen (Dwayne) Thornton, Leslie Ann Blakeman, and many great-grandchildren, who were much treasured by her.
A celebration of Mary Ruth Gebhart’s life will be held at 1 p.m. March 3, 2018 at Memorial United Methodist Church, 500 Kent Ave., Lake Placid, Florida 33852. It will be followed by a reception in the church’s fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Disabled American Veterans, one of her favorite charities, at DAV.org.
