SEBRING — Start off the New Year on the right foot at Highlands Hammock State Park! “First Day” Hikes are an annual tradition at parks all over the country, and three guided walks are scheduled for Monday morning, Jan. 1. They include a hike from “Big Oak Trail to Hickory Trail,” “Trek to the Historic Dam” and “Cottage Road Off the Beaten Path.”

Those participating in the first hike may park at the Orange Grove and walk back to the Alexander Blair Big Oak Trail where they will meet Ranger Laura McMullen at 8:30 a.m. Portions of this trail had to be reconfigured due to damage from Hurricane Irma.
