This week’s Netflix pick is a horror-drama based on a novella by the same name, “1922” by Stephen King. The novella was originally released in 2010 as part of the collection, “Full Dark, No Stars.” It was one of four novellas that included “Big Driver” and “A Good Marriage,” both of which have also been made into movies (we will be exploring them at some point).
“1922” is the story of a Nebraska farmer named Wilfred (Thomas Jane) who murders his wife Arlette (Molly Parker) and convinces his 14-year- old son Henry (Dylan Schmid) into helping him do it. The movie is mostly about what happens to the father and son after they murder Arlette. It explores what the grief and guilt do to them both, but is told through Wilfred’s unreliable point of view.
