LAKE PLACID — Artists and crafters met stiff competition at the 52nd annual Lake Placid Arts and Crafts Country Fair this past weekend at DeVane Park. Artwork, crafts, culinary and creative writing entries were offered for judging in scores of categories and divisions at Lake Placid Elementary School. Contestants were competing for ribbons, cash and bragging rights. The first 1,000 people to visit the exhibits on Saturday were able to vote for the People’s Choice Awards. The People’s Choice Awards first place in the Arts was Louisa Garrett with “Dog;” in second place was P.J. Cosgrove for “Potted Flowers.” The division was sponsored by Caladium Arts & Crafts Cooperative.

Home and Office Essentials sponsored the pottery division. The first place recipient was Lynn Acarborough for “Hawk” and second place belonged to Bob Forrester with his photo of “Boathouse.”
