AVON PARK — Something truly amazing this way comes Thursday, Feb. 8, to the Alan Jay Wildstein Center for the Performing Arts, on the campus of South Florida State College. The Broadway musical “Amazing Grace” will open for one night only. This stop is but one in the 27-state, first-ever, national tour of this wonderful tale of individual and national transformation. Showtime is 7 p.m.

“Amazing Grace” is the story of the trials and tribulations in the life of the beloved hymns’ author, John Newton. Newton was a young Englishman working in the family business as a slave trader in the 1700s. It also tells the tale of a nation struggling with it’s own collective consciousness.
