LAKE PLACID — Young artists from all over Highlands County competed in the 52nd annual Lake Placid Arts and Crafts Fair on Feb. 3-4. The competition portion of the fair was held at the Lake Placid Elementary cafeteria and library. The judges had some hard decisions to make in awarding Best of Show and Best of Class artwork, culinary dishes and creative writing in many divisions.

In the elementary school-age category had entrants from kindergarten to fifth grade students competing for ribbons and cash.
