NORTH PORT — An informal monthly excursion is set for Saturday, Jan. 21, for “those wishing to explore the waterways in the area by kayak or canoe,” a local group noted.

This time the group, led by People for Trees, will explore the Myakka River “with a one-way paddle starting at the Venice Myakka River Park located at 7501 Laurel Road, in Nokomis, with a 10 a.m. launch and ending at Snook Haven, approximately 5 miles,” organizers said.
