Police: Dance instructor accused of lewd conduct with pupil

A day after an instructor from Haven Dance studio in North Port was arrested on two charges of lewd and lacivious battery on a student, the business has been closed. Lauren DeBenedetta, 38, has posted bail but has a injunction against her from the alleged victim's family. Owner Ted Fields sent out an email to families saying it was closed, but gave no other information to people involved in the studio.

NORTH PORT — A North Port dance instructor was arrested late Monday on two counts of lewd and lascivious battery after allegedly engaging in sexual acts with a student.

Lauren DeBenedetta, 38, 4600 block of Manila Avenue, the artistic director at Haven Dance in the Shoppes at Price Crossing, was arrested after the student’s family filed a petition for injunction for projection against sexual violence in Charlotte County.
