Evacuation issued in Irma aftermath

Homes near the Myakkahatchee Creek area in the Estates may receive flooding so they were issued a voluntary evacuation. The area received 8 inches of rain in 24 hours.


The Myakkehatchee Creek and other tributaries are flooding after receiving 8 inches of rain in 24 hours after Hurricane Irma. Residents in the area have been given a voluntary evacuation in case the water traps them in their homes.


Neighborhoods near the Myakkahatchee Creek in the Estates is experiencing a large amount of flooding after receiving 8 inches of rain in a single day.

NORTH PORT — While Hurricane Irma has passed Charlotte and Sarasota counties, the storm is not over for North Port.

City officials announced the Myakkahatchee Creek area near the North Port Estates is undergoing a voluntary evacuation for any residents who may be concerned with flooding.
