Saltwater Cafe, which has been open for 22 years, suddenly closed this week. The owners said they have decided to retire. The restaurant has been home to celebrity chef Rolf Zahnd, who recently opened a new restaurant in Sarasota. His parents owned Saltwater Cafe.

After a run of 22 years, the sudden closing of the popular Saltwater Cafe at 1071 Tamiami Trail, in Nokomis, caught many by surprise.

Famous for its local television celebrity chef, Rolf Zahnd, the Saltwater Cafe was owned by his parents, Katherine and Pavel Zahnd. Chef Rolf’s television show, “The New Florida Kitchen,” is seen regularly on SNN.
