The effort to get the Venice Circus Arena listed on the National Register of Historic Places got lukewarm support from the Venice City Council on Wednesday.
Larry Ivey and Dorothy Korwek, the city’s former archivist, asked Council for permission to submit a Preliminary Site Information Questionnaire to get the listing process going. Getting the arena listed would bring important federal tax credits and exemptions that could play a part in its redevelopment, they said.
