NORTH PORT — The Ponce De Leon Boulevard bridge that was damaged last week following a dump truck crash along Interstate 75 should be open again to local traffic by this weekend, according to the Florida Department of Transportation, which said the repair work is entering its final stages.
FDOT spokesman Dave Parks added I-75 will be shut down on two more occasions, following four closures last week after a North Miami man, Bonnie Ramsingh, 56, struck an overpass beam in a dump truck he was driving and fled the scene. The southbound lanes of the interstate were closed from River Road to Sumter Boulevard for 13 hours following the crash, as well as three other times overnight for repair work.
