NORTH PORT — Majority ruled when it came to a proposed 3 percent wage increase for general city employees, set to take effect during the 2014-2015 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.
Commissioners believed it was past time for employees to get paid more for their work, and most said in a Tuesday budget workshop that 3 percent was a fair number. Only City Commissioner Linda Yates stated she would like to see a 1.5 percent wage increase.
