Arena’s future dims

as city seeks interest

City leaders agreed this week to reopen a solicitation for development proposals for the Circus Arena property, partly because they weren’t interested in the proposals that were received by the May deadline, and partly because the request for Letters of Interest was unclear.

Three proposals were received, one for a miniature golf course, the Venice Circus Arts Foundation’s proposal to create an entertainment complex, and a request by tenant Tito Gaona’s trapeze academy to remain on site if either of the other two proposals are accepted.
