Restoration work began recently at 909 S. Tamiami Trail, in Nokomis, originally a grocery store when it opened in the 1920s. When the restoration is completed, the site will be the large new home for Venice Lighting & Fans, which David and Robin Deacon opened two years ago at 508 Colonia Lane E.

Starting completely from scratch, they have created a very successful business but wanted visibility on U.S. 41. Following 12 months of negotiations, they acquired the property standing prominently near the junction of U.S. 41 and Colonia Lane E.
