After working with hundreds of thousands of visitors at the Warm Mineral Springs Day Spa in North Port, subcontractors Dr. Hernando Ortiz and Carla Peralta each found themselves out of a job in July when the city’s only tourist attraction closed.
North Port and Sarasota County jointly own the 81-acre Springs, which was shuttered more than 120 days ago after the two governments couldn’t secure an operator for the day spa. When it closed, about 44 Springs employees were let go.
