The number of woman-owned firms continues to grow at a rate exceeding the national average. They now account for 29 percent of all enterprises, according to research reported by American Express.
Between 1997 and 2013, when the number of businesses in the United States increased by 41 percent, the number of woman-owned firms increased by 59 percent, a rate 1.5 times the national average.
