It has been a fantastic season for tourism in Sarasota County, with more than 72,000 visitors, a 7.8 percent increase compared to last year. Those visitors accounted for direct expenditures of more than $86 million, a 12.3 percent increase over last year.
Sarasota County Commissioner Christine Robinson shared this good news when speaking to Venice-Nokomis Rotary Club members recently on tourism, employment and a major road improvement on the island.
