The residents of this area have a big soft spot in their hearts for animals, especially animals that are hurt or in danger. So you can imagine how people reacted when the Venice Gondolier Sun started running photos of sickly coyotes on the island of Venice, even ones downtown.
These coyotes, which are a regular part of Florida life, just as are alligators, sharks and dolphins, are being pushed more and more into neighborhoods because, well, the natural habitats of coyotes are being destroyed so that neighborhoods can be built.
