Many of our readers are old enough to remember the “bad old days” — the days when youngsters commonly came down with “childhood illnesses” like measles, mumps, chicken pox and German measles.
No doubt, many experienced those ailments themselves. Coughing, fever, swelling and sore throats, etc. Some, no doubt, lived through times when the possibility of a child contracting polio was a fearful thought.
