As if Florida hasn’t already done enough to build a Wild Wild West reputation — Trayvon Martin and the infamous Movie Theater-Popcorn incident — a new measure moving through the Legislature would certainly bolster it.
A Senate committee last week approved Senate Bill 968, sponsored by Sen. Alan Hayes, R-Umatilla, which would authorize civilians with firearms in school buildings. The bill is co-sponsored in the House by Rep. Greg Steube, R-Sarasota.
