‘Stand ground law’ overhaul is long overdue

A rare bipartisan effort was on display in the Florida Legislature recently as lawmakers tweaked the controversial 2005 Stand Your Ground law.

If the proposed bill ends up on the governor’s desk as written, it will go a long way toward protecting innocent people who, under the law as written, could be gunned down by a shooter who could likely escape prosecution by claiming they felt threatened.
