Four people are running for the District 1 Sarasota School Board seat that was held 16 years by Carol Todd until her sudden resignation in April.
To replace Todd until the term ends in November, Gov. Rick Scott appointed Bridget Ziegler, an insurance agent with ties to the county Republican Party. Ziegler, 31, is articulate and brings a young perspective to the board, but we found her the weakest of the four in the race.
