Gondolier Sun endorses Maio for BCC Seat 4

After 16 years, the District 4 Seat on the Sarasota County Commission is open due to the retirement of County Commissioner Nora Patterson. Two Republicans looking to replace her have very different views of the political landscape; both are excellent candidates.

Lourdes Ramirez, 52, a business consultant and community activist who lives on Siesta Key, is running against Al Maio, 64, an accountant, business owner and development planner. The district, redrawn after the 2010 Census, begins at Siesta Key and Bee Ridge Road, wraps southeast around Osprey and extends to Laurel Road in Nokomis.
