City surprised

by money needs

for new library

When the Venice Public Library underwent a major makeover in 1993, the city contributed $100,000 to the effort.

The City Council agreed in principle Tuesday to match that contribution to the new library in the Fiscal Year 2018-19 budget, though some members were surprised to learn that a number of the features touted for the new facility are actually enhancements not included in the construction and furnishing costs.
