Melissa Smith is a highly skilled, creative person who not only gets involved with mapmaking but also adds the personal touch with caricatures that highlight events along the route’s topography.

I recently spent time with the South Venice artist and found her map of Venice to be something along the lines of a colorful, illustrative book — a storybook map, if you will, including facts with accurate map details.
