Julia Cousins Laning and family members are recognized for the Laning's financial contribution to renovate a residence into a new Venice Archives and Research Center.

Julia Cousins Laning, 96, donated $1 million to make repairs to the current Venice Museum and Archives building, as well as renovate a structure for a new archives research center.

Thanks to the contribution of Dale Laning and Julia Cousins Laning, the City of Venice was able to acquire, and will soon renovate, a house at 224 Milan Ave. W. as The Dale Laning and Julia Cousins Laning Archives & Research Center.

An unveiling of a “coming soon” sign was held at noon Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the location, on the island of Venice across from the Venice Museum & Archives/Triangle Inn.
