The Sarasota County School District has a healthy capital budget reserve, but has no plans to build any new schools in the county for at least the next five years, according to district staff. Other items may be on the list for updates, however.
As part of an update on the district’s capital budget and capital improvement plan, Al Weidner, district deputy chief financial officer, shared during a recent School Board workshop the “good news” of the roughly $7 million in capital funds reserved every year, leaving the district with a “comfortable” balance of $10.7 million.
